  • 什么是狂热的?

    Advancement Via Individual Determination (狂热的) is a global nonprofit organization that operates with one guiding principle: hold 学生 accountable to the highest standards, provide academic and social support, and they will rise to the challenge. 狂热的’s 大学 Readiness System brings research-based curriculum and strategies to 学生 each day that develop critical thinking, 读写能力, and math skills across all content areas.

    狂热的 is for 学生 who would benefit from a supportive family-like environment and the consistent encouragement to stretch their wings and reach their full potential.

    What does 狂热的 look like at McDaniel?

    McDaniel (as Madison High School) was the first school in Oregon to have 狂热的 in 2005-6.  We are implementing 狂热的’s 大学 Readiness System school-wide, which means teachers are using 狂热的 strategies in all content areas.  The Cornell note taking system is used in multiple classes and all teachers are using Essential Questions or Learning Targets to help 学生 engage in and interact meaningfully with daily lessons. Reading and writing strategies are used in all grades.  In addition, McDaniel offers an 狂热的 Elective Class at each grade level.

     

    狂热的选修课

    McDaniel currently offers 6 sections of 狂热的.  In 9th and 10th grade, 学生 focus on academic skills. As 学生 transition through 狂热的 9-12, the focus moves from high school skills to college and scholarship applications, culminating in full focus on college applications, 金融援助, and scholarship applications in 12th grade.


    Who is eligible for the 狂热的 Elective Class?

    狂热的选修课 is for 学生 willing to work hard in school and enroll in academically challenging classes such as Advanced Placement and Dual Credit Classes.  They may also be the first in their family to go to college, low income or from ethnic groups underrepresented on college campuses.

    Each year McDaniel´s senior 狂热的 学生 record a video, giving them the opportunity to show how they perceived themselves coming into high school and where they are headed after four years of McDaniel's program.  Please enjoy these past videos of our 狂热的 学生 and their accomplishments.

  • 年内, 狂热的 holds Family Night programs for 学生 and their families with presentations and workshops to help inform and build student success!

    It felt pretty wonderful to be part of Madison's 狂热的 Family Night last night. 不管天气如何, the vibe was warm and we had 50 parents and 72 学生 from Madison in attendance, 还有一些员工, 学生, and parents from Roseway Heights. 我们的项目包括披萨, 见面问候, a video of Madison's Casey Ragghianti presenting at Summer Institute. 本, 艾丽西亚, 阿曼达, 艾琳, 罗伯塔, and I offered 4 workshops and the families rotated through them, asked questions and provided feedback.
